Jobs & Opportunities: Some Basic Resources
Following a query from our postgraduate community, please find below a list of principal sites with listings of academic jobs currently advertised.
University Vacancies Ireland: https://www.universityvacancies.com/
Times Higher Education Job Search: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/unijobs/. Lists jobs in the UK, Ireland, and some in the US and continental Europe.
The Chronicle of Higher Education: https://jobs.chronicle.com/. This is the go-to site for jobs in the US.
The MLA job list: https://www.mla.org/Resources/Career/Job-List. Useful for North American and overseas jobs in particular. Job interviews often take place at the annual MLA conference.
The European Commission EURAXESS jobs database: https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs. This resource has details of all the postdoctoral and PhD positions made available through EU-funded projects.
The following services provide weekly emails and on-site lists:
https://www.researchresearch.com/ (UK/EU focused)
https://facultyvacancies.com/ (US focused).
While these listings are extremely useful, none of them are entirely failsafe, and checking HR sites of the relevant universities regularly is advisable. Twitter is also becoming a really good source of job info and listings, using hashtags such as #AcademicChatter and #AcademicJobs. There are also a couple of dedicated academic jobs accounts on twitter, e.g. @AcademicJobs, @AcademicJobBot.
Following the reconstruction of the IASIL website, we intend to convert this post into a dedicated page that will be regularly updated.
