MA Research Assistantships in Irish Studies

Recently awarded a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Professor Brad Kent will offer up to two research assistantships for incoming MA students in English Literature at Université Laval. The research assistantships will provide students with $10,000 in funding for the first year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. During their time at Laval, students will conduct research into the intellectual and cultural life of post-independence Ireland. Those who are interested in applying for the 2017-18 academic year are welcome to contact Professor Kent (Brad.kent@lit.ulaval.ca); the deadline for submitting applications to Université Laval is 26 May 2017.

Founded in 1663 and situated in beautiful Quebec City, Université Laval is the oldest French-language university in North America and one of Canada’s leading research institutions. All courses in the English program are taught in English, though students are expected to immerse themselves in the local Francophone culture. As Université Laval will host the annual conference of the Canadian Association for Irish Studies in the spring of 2018, students will have a prime opportunity to participate in an academic gathering of international repute during their studies.
