EVENT: Irish Network for Horror and Gothic Studies
The INGHS are holding an in-person networking event on Saturday 22 February 2025, in the Long Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin. During this event, they will be re-launching the Irish Network for Gothic and Horror Studies (INGHS).
This event will establish the network as an informal vehicle for promoting the work of Gothic and horror scholars (whether they be affiliated or independent) and creative practitioners from throughout the island of Ireland. All are welcome, regardless of career stage, status, or relationship to academia. To begin with, we are particularly interested in creating networking opportunities for Irish-based postgraduate and early career researchers.
The events of the day will include:
- A keynote address by Dr Miranda Corcoran of UCC;
- A panel on Witchcraft and the Occult;
- A panel on recent Irish horror and the Gothic with panellists including novelist Sophie White (Where I End), Scriptwriter Rodney Lee (The Unreal, RTE 1), and writer and academic Jack Fennell;
- A career/professional development panel featuring Gothic and horror scholars based in Ireland and the UK;
- A short brainstorming session during which we will solicit ideas from attendees about how best to further develop the network and build upon this initial gathering.
There is no charge for attendance, but attendees must register in advance.
In addition to showcasing the rich and varied work being done within horror and the Gothic by researchers and creative talents based in Ireland, they also hope to create additional opportunities for networking and collaboration, through hosting at least one event each year, and promoting other relevant ventures that are going on across the island of Ireland.
If you are interested in joining the network or signing up to their mailing list, please take a moment to fill out this survey.
