TU Dublin Aungier St on 17th October at 6.30pm
Dr. Eamon Maher is one of Ireland’s most esteemed scholars, and the book we are launching—”Getting the Words Right”—has been written in his honour as a tribute to his immense contribution to academia, knowledge creation, and intellectual inquiry. The collection includes essays by distinguished academic colleagues who celebrate Eamon’s far-reaching influence.
Based at TU Dublin, Eamon is the Director of the National Centre for Franco-Irish Studies and is affiliated with the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. He has authored four monographs and co-edited 27 books, while serving as General Editor of two prestigious academic series with Peter Lang Oxford, Reimagining Ireland and Studies in Franco-Irish Relations. An internationally recognized scholar on John McGahern, Eamon has published extensively on McGahern’s work and on the French priest-writer Jean Sulivan. He is also an Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques, a prestigious honour awarded by the French Government for his outstanding contributions to Franco-Irish relations.
“Getting the Words Right” is a collection of essays reflecting the key areas of scholarship that Eamon Maher has worked on throughout his career. The contributions explore the rich connections between Ireland and France across political, cultural, historical, literary, theoretical, religious, and linguistic dimensions. Additionally, there are essays on John McGahern, George Moore, regionalism, and translation. Each essay is penned by a leading expert in the field, further underscoring the significance of Eamon Maher’s scholarly legacy.
Join us in TU Dublin Aungier St on 17th October at 6.30pm in the Courtyard Room and help us celebrate Eamon’s outstanding academic career to date and also to launch an excellent publication with 24 chapters, all written by colleagues who are at the top of their fields.
