This event, which will be moderated by Fergal Mythen, Director General of DFAT’s Ireland, UK & Americas Division, will feature a panel of Fulbright scholars and awardees who will speak about the experiences and hidden histories of diverse groups of Irish America throughout history

The Department of Foreign Affairs is proud to host the Irish America Series. This series, taking place as lunchtime events throughout 2020, explores the theme of Irish America and how Ireland can best engage with the next generation of diaspora.

A series of ‘lightning talks will provide us with a deeper understanding of diverse groups of Irish Americans at specific points in history, including

the hidden histories of Irish gay men in the US in the 1980-90s,

Irish Americans in interracial marriages,

female Irish domestic workers who attended Irish language schools in the US at the turn of the 20th century
