Olivier award winning Fishamble: The New Play Company renowned for bringing new Irish work to stages in Ireland and abroad, are giving that audiences another chance to see Inside The GPO, when it is streamed online this Easter Monday.

Fishamble’s Inside the GPO written by Colin Murphy and directed by Jim Culleton, was a must-see cultural event at the heart of the 1916 commemorations.

This unprecedented documentary drama, was a once-in-a-century opportunity to experience the Easter Rising, performed in the main hall of the GPO itself. Audiences witnessed the rebel leadership navigate the perils of the Rising across the five days during which they occupied the GPO.

A special pre-show talk will be streamed at 6pm this Sunday on Fishamble’s Facebook page. This will give audiences a further insight into how the work was made.

The panel will include Director Jim Culleton, Writer Colin Murphy, Scenic and Costume Designer Niamh Lunny, Public Affairs Manager at An Post Angus Laverty, and Actor Liz FitzGibbon, and will be chaired by Fishamble’s Literary Manager Gavin Kostock.

This is just one of a number of initiatives in which Fishamble are sharing work and engaging with artists online, while theatres are currently closed. 

They include the Tiny Plays Challenge inviting anyone to write their own 600 word play (www.fishamble.com/tinyplaychallenge);
