Crowdfunding Appeal for SOLAS, A Play About Lucia Joyce.

SOLAS, a play about Lucia Joyce, has been selected for the 2019 UNESCO Cities of Literature Play Festival to be held in Dunedin, NZ, this September.
The play was co-conceived by Diane Stubbings and director Lynda Fleming, and developed at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne.

Set in Bray, Ireland, in the 1930s, the play explores the period Lucia spent in Ireland living with her cousins. It aims to recover Lucia Joyce’s voice and to celebrate her love of art, music and dance, while acknowledging her emotional and psychological fragility. Further, SOLAS places Lucia’s life – and her breakdown – within the context of the cultural revolution that was Modernism, a revolution represented by her father’s writing.

In order to get our director (Lynda) and two actors to Dunedin, we have started a crowdfunding appeal, under the auspices of the Australian Cultural Fund.
Given IASIL’s role in promoting Irish literature and writers, we were hoping the Association might be able to help us garner support by posting a link to our funding page on relevant social media etc.

The page can be found at: https://australianculturalfund.org.au/projects/solas/
We have a fairly modest goal, and are hoping for as many small donations as possible.
