Death of Conor Johnston

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Conor Johnston, a familiar face from IASIL conferences in the past, who has died in California after a long illness.  Born in Limerick, Conor studied at Trinity College, where he was active in The Historical Society and read honours English Literature. Subsequently he took an MA at Johns Hopkins and returned again to the US in 1980 to complete a PhD at Boston University on the Irish dimension of Anthony Trollope. Conor taught at Massasoit Community College near Boston and published on Fenian John Boyle O’Reilly.  He also held offices in the American Conference of Irish Studies.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Inganni (ninganni@gmail.com) and brothers Turlough and Rory, sister Pat and many nieces and nephews.

On behalf of the IASIL community, I extend my sympathy to his family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
