Call for Papers–NYC Eng. Assoc.

Dear Colleague,

I am writing to extend a cordial invitation to the 2015 New York College English Association (NYCEA) Conference, to be held at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY (14 miles south of Buffalo, NY) on Oct. 9-10, 2015.

The conference theme is “Digital Domains & Humanistic Thresholds:  Literary Study, Composition, & Communications.”  Please see the attached call for papers and preformed panels (cfp) for a generous range of topic possibilities, including registration form.  Proposals (200-250 words) are due August 21, 2015, with a fast response time of August 31 to facilitate your planning.

Program highlights:  The Friday night entertainment is a screening of the edited film version of the techno-interactive play Build Your Own Adventure:  Mystery of the Silver Chalice by award-winning actor, director, & playwright Taylor Doherty.

Saturday’s Plenary Speaker is Joanna (Annie) Swafford, Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary and Digital Teaching and Scholarship at SUNY New Paltz.  Her cutting-edge talk is entitled “Teaching Literature Through Technology:  Sherlock Holmes and Digital Humanities.”  See the attached cfp for more exciting details.

NYCEA is a regional and low-cost conference, and we pride ourselves on a supportive and collegial atmosphere.  Graduate student participants are especially welcome, and we offer a $200 prize for best graduate paper at each conference.   We encourage you, then, to share the cfp with full- and part-time colleagues and graduate students (and please post).

We hope to see you in Hamburg, and in the meantime we are happy to answer any questions about the organization or the conference.  Our NYCEA website may be found at www.nycea.org.  The call may be found at Call for Papers Fall 2015–NYCEA Conf
