CFP: COLLECTIVE IDENTITIES: STABILITY AND CHANGE

FRIDAY 26 JUNE 2015

 VENUE: MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY,

HENDON CAMPUS,

LONDON,

NW4 4BT

KEY NOTE SPEAKER: PROF MARY HICKMAN

While collective identities remain crucial to everyday life, their quality and character have arguably been subject to significant change, in response to a range of major economic, social and political transformations affecting the island of Ireland. This one-day conference seeks to explore the quality and extent of such changes, across a range of domains.

We welcome papers that address the extent of stability and change in contexts such as:

  • migration,
  • political identities
  • gender and sexuality
  • family and intimacy
  • social class
  • emotions and social norms
  • citizenship
  • religion
  • conflict and peace

Please send abstracts (150 words) on any of the themes above to L.Smyth@qub.ac.uk by 20th March 2015.

Organised by: Prof. Louise Ryan, Dr. Maria Power, and Dr Lisa Smyth
