Breac: A Digital Journal of Irish Studies
[private]
We are delighted to announce the launch of Breac: A Digital Journal of Irish Studies. After a busy few months, the first issue, Migration and Diaspora, is up at breac.nd.edu.
We want to urge you to make use of the comment function at the base of each article. Obviously commenting in real time on the material will make for a different kind of engagement with the field, but that's also what's most exciting about it. So please, after you've read the article, comment on it, challenge it, or supplement it with your own thoughts. And please be respectful–after all, you may receive a response from the author of the article!
We're also hoping that Breac can serve as a teaching tool. By all means feel free, if you'd like, to incorporate the articles into classes or seminars. One idea would be to give students the opportunity to extend the discussion beyond the classroom into the Breac forums surrounding the articles.
If you have received this email directly from us, there's no need to subscribe–you're on our email list. But please do encourage others to subscribe and join in on the conversation.
We will issue the CFP for the next issue in the next week or so. For now, the issue will be on Drama and is co-edited by Shaun Richards and Lindsay Haney. We very much look forward to your submissions.
Finally, if you are currently attending the American Conference for Irish Studies in Chicago and are interested, we will be discussing the Breac project–its inception, its goals, its possible interventions in the field–today, Saturday, at 3:00. We'll be looking to hear your thoughts on the project.
All the very best,
John and Nathaniel
