Graduate Students The 2004 IASIL Scholarships will be awarded to: Laura G. Brad Kent (Concordia, Canada), "There's Something Else About Mary" - Irish Censorship and the Banning of Kate O'Brien's Mary Lavelle. Rina Kim (Warwick, UK): Severing Connection with Ireland: Women and the Irish Free State in Beckett's Writing. Chiaki Kojima (Tokyo) “From the Irish drama to the Japanese New drama II: Shoyo Matsui’s Adaptation and Reformation” Louise Mabille, (University of Pretoria) Wilde's Voices; Nietzsche's Masks: A Portrait of the Artist as Something That is No Longer Man. *** The organisers of the 2004 IASIL Conference particularly welcome Graduate Research Students in Irish Studies. In addition, IASIL has offered six scholarships to assist overseas student members of IASIL to attend the conference at National University of Ireland, Galway, 20-24 July 2004. Three scholarships will be worth €1,000 and three scholarships will be worth €500. The scholarships will be presented to the successful candidates during the conference. The Scholarship Scheme has now closed. We wish to thank the many students who applied for the Scheme. These applications will be considered by an independent IASIL committee. Applicants were informed of the status of their application by email on Monday 10 May. TERMS

must be registered for a postgraduate degree outside Ireland. 3. Each
applicant must submit the following 4. The
scholarship awards will be considered by a committee of IASIL, consisting
of the Treasurer, the chair of the organizing committee, and an independent
academic assessor. The decision of the committee will be final. 5. The candidate will be informed of the outcome of the competition before the end of April 2004. Payment of the scholarship is conditional on the delivery of the proposed paper at the conference. Entries for the scholarship scheme should be sent to arrive no later than 15 March 2004. 2004 Conference Organisers If you require further information about the scholarship scheme, please contact the conference organizers on conference@iasil.org The level of interest in graduate scholarships is very high and, regrettably, it will not be possible to accommodate all applicants. An independent review panel will consider all proposals. Successful candidates will be notified after 15 April 2004. Support
Fund Applications for support fund assistance will be considered by the scholarship committee, whose decisions will be final.
