Accommodation

Four options were available for IASIL 2004:

1.. Book accommodation in Corrib Village student apartments, using the registration form, which is now available online.

2.. Book with a selected group of hotels or hostel in Galway, with which special rates have been negotiated, BEFORE 30 April 2004.

3. Book with a hostel in Galway, with which special rates have been negotiated, before 15 May 2004.

4. Make independent arrangements.

CORRIB VILLAGE STUDENT APARTMENTS

If you wish to stay in Corrib Village, you must book using the IASIL 2004 Registration Form. Please do not attempt to book directly with Corrib Village, which cannot process reservations for IASIL delegates.

Corrib Village, the student accommodation at National University of Ireland, Galway, is situated along the banks of the river Corrib, within a short walking distance of the conference venue. The Village comprises of standard and en-suite apartments which are described hereunder. Facilities at Corrib Village include:

- Shop - open 7 days a week c .9.00am - 9.00pm

- Laundrette - Open 7 days a week 7.00am to 11.00pm - coin operated.

- Restaurant - serving a selection of light meals, open 7.00am - 11.00am

· Tennis Courts

· Horseriding

· Children's Playground

· Complimentary Shuttle Bus Service - the shuttle bus service operates from 12.00pm to 8.00pm daily. Every hour on the hour the bus goes into Eyre Square and every half of the hour the bus returns from Eyre Square to Corrib Village.

Standard Accommodation:

This comprises of 3 or 4 bedroom apartments. There are two bathrooms per apartment one with shower, bath, toilet and wash hand basin and the other one with toilet and wash hand basin.

a.. 3 bedroom apartments consist of one double, one single and one twin bedroom.
b.. 4 bedroom apartments consist of one double, two singles and one twin bedroom.

En-Suite Accommodation

All apartments have 4 bedrooms - 2 doubles and 2 singles. One double and one single are en-suite, with the remaining double and single sharing an inter-connecting bathroom. All bathrooms have shower, toilet and wash hand basin. All bedrooms have television and direct dial telephones, which can be activated by paying a deposit to reception upon arrival. Each apartment has a living area with T.V.

COST OF ACCOMMODATION IN CORRIB VILLAGE

All prices are for 5 nights, arriving Monday 19 July and departing on the morning of Saturday 24 July, and include breakfast.

Single Room /bathroom shared between 4 rooms: EURO-180

Single Room /private bathroom/TV: EURO-210 [Limited number - issued on a first come, first served basis]. If these rooms are booked out, you will be automatically allocated to a single room sharing bathroom with one other single room.

Single Room /bathroom shared with one other single room /TV: EURO-210.

Double Room /private bathroom /TV: EURO-180 per person sharing. (your roommate's name must be included on the sheet)

Twin Room /bathroom shared between 4 rooms: EURO-145 per person sharing. (your roommate's name must be included on the sheet).

 

HOTELS

Special Rates were negotiated with three Galway hotels. These were available only until 30 April. You may still contact these hotels, but preferential rates are no longer available.

Option 1: Brennan's Yard Hotel ***

Location: Central Galway

Rate Per Night: €76.00 per night (incl. breakfast) per person sharing, based on delegates staying for 5 nights.

Distance from Conference Venue 5-10 minutes on foot.

Parking - €6 per day in Hynes's car park.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Brennans Yard Hotel offers visitors to Galway an intimate, friendly hotel with excellent standards of accommodation, food, and service.

Located in the heart of Galway's City Centre, known as the 'Left Bank' area, Brennans Yard Hotel is an old stone building of immense character. Immediately adjacent to the historic Spanish Arch, Brennans Yard has the benefit of some of Galway's most prestigious surroundings.

Brennans Yard Hotel's prime city centre location is also on the doorstep to Galway's shopping and business districts. Art galleries, theatres, museums and high street stores are all within walking distance of the hotel.

Option 2: The Spanish Arch Hotel ***

Location: Central Galway

Rate Per Night: €139 per person sharing per night (including breakfast), based on five nights.

Parking Available - two choices: closest is €9 euro per 24 hours, the other is 2 minute walk and costs €6.50 euro for 24 hours. .

Distance from Conference Venue: 5-10 minutes on foot.

Brief Description of Venue

This 20-bedroom hotel, once a 16th Century Carmelite convent, is situated right next to the Corrib and the famous Spanish Arch, which was built in 1584 and is renowned both nationally and internationally. The hotel is surrounded by medieval buildings and cobbled streets, and is situated in the most idyllic part of Galway City often referred to as Galway’s “Latin Quarter”.

Location: Salthill - on Galway Seafront

Rate Per Night: €50 per person sharing Mon-Thurs; €90 per person sharing on Friday. Includes breakfast.

Description: This recently built hotel on the seafront by Galway Bay would suit delegates who would like to combine a seaside holiday with the conference. There are many amenities in the resort Salthill suburb of Galway which would suit children or partners accompanying a delegate. Full details are available on the hotel's website.

HOSTEL - Eyre Square Hostel.

Location: Central Galway

Rate per Night €16

Distance from Conference Venue: 10 minutes on foot.

Brief Description:

This hostel provides provides clean but basic accommodation in an older building at a special low rate in a very central location.

*Deadlines for Accomodation. Accommodation is allocated on a first come, first served basis, and it is anticipated that most accommodation will be taken up long before the deadlines above. PLEASE BOOK EARLY. The deadlines above refer to the date upon which any remaining IASIL accommodation will be released. You should not assume that any accommodation will be left if you wait until the deadline to book.
