EVENT: Migration, adaptation and ex/change: Victorian and contemporary culture

Join the VICTEUR Project at UCD Centre for Cultural Analytics at MoLI for a two-day colloquium exploring questions of migration, adaptation and ex/change.

This colloquium will explore questions of migration, adaptation and cultural ex/change through the lens of cultural analytics, in particular the use cases and new functionalities of the Curatr platform developed as part of the VICTEUR project.

Ranging from the Victorian to the contemporary era, speakers will reflect on the role of migration in shaping narratives of national identity, in the development of new literary forms and in the circulation of cultural texts. The colloquium will address questions of marginalization and cultural formation and of race, ethnicity and gender, through the lens of data analytics, library collections and attentive reading of individual authors and texts. The colloquium will analyse continuities and changes in Victorian and current cultural responses to migration through a dialogue between new modes of analysis opened up by data analysis and literary scholarship.

Keynote speakers include Professor Josephine McDonagh (University of Chicago), Associate Professor Antonija Primorac (University of Rijeka) and Professor Mar Gallego (Huelva University).
