IASIL Associations News - Reports 2004/2005

IASIL Bibliography

Firstly a word on content: at the AGM last July it was decided not to include translations of Irish novels, books of poetry etc into other languages unless they contain a substantial introduction or critical commentary. There are just too many and the reporting of them has not always been consistent. The very useful 'General Studies' section is also threatening to get too long, so books and articles nore properly belonging to history, sociology and the like will no longer be included. Studies of language, film, folklore and such cultural topics are still welcome.

Secondly, the list of countries represented on the committee continues to grow: Romania, Finland, Egypt, and Greece have recently been added, and one or two more are in the pipeline. However, I'd like to have someone from India - surely someone must be writing about Irish literature in a country with a thriving university sector. Also other countries in SE Asia, Mexico, Chile and much of Africa are unrepresented. Anyone out there willing to do the job? Or does anyone know of someone else who might? If so, please contact me. I'm just an email away: Frank Molloy - fmolloy@csu.edu.au

Finally, if you want to sample the rich resources that are available in the Bibliography, why not browse through the most recent one in the 2004 Autumn/Winter issue of the 'IUR'.
