Calls for Papers Gothic Studies Submission
Deadline: June 2002
A
special issue dedicated to Oscar Wilde, and to be edited by IASIL
member Neil Sammells. Articles
should be no more than 4000 words, submitted in Bathspa publications
house style – and should address such issues as – Wilde and Gothic
Novel, Dandies and Vampires, Wilde and post-modern Gothic, Parodying
the Gothic, Wilde and the politics of Gothic, or Irish Gothic.
Contributions
to reach editor by June 2002, projected publication in 2003.

Ireland and the Novel in the Nineteenth Century Submission
Deadline: 1 February 2002
IASIL
member Jackie Belanger is editing a collection of essays on “Ireland
and the Novel in the Nineteenth Century” and welcomes submissions
which attempt to rethink definitions of the Irish novel 1800-1900. Detailed abstract, 600 words, by 1st Feb, 2002 Accepted
essays of 6,000 words due 15th January 2003.

Cuadernos de Filologia Inglesa, Submission
Deadline: 1 March 2002
Contributions
welcome to a special issue of Cuadernos de Filologia Inglesa,
a journal published by the University of Madrid. Their June 2003 issue will be devoted to Irish Studies Today.
Contributions, including book reviews, should be double-spaced
and three copies sent by 1 March, 2002 to Keith Gregor, Facultad de
Letras, Universidad de Murcia, Santo Cristo 1, 30071 SPAIN.
NEW PUBLICATIONS
Because IASIL is not sending out periodic mailings
to the entire membership as a general any longer, members with books
forthcoming should remind their publishers to either send a relevant
flyer, and notice shall be posted here, or they should advise their
publishers to ask for the IASIL mailing list, free of charge, for
a ONCE OFF use to circularise members by post.

member, Patricia Nolan, has published a bilingual French/English collection of poems, Travelling

and has just completed a book tour in Boston. New
CANADIAN JOURNAL OF IRISH STUDIES, edited by
former IASIL Chair Michael Kenneally. Regular features will
include interviews, poetry, profiles of Irish Canadians, photo essays
and many reviews of Irish studies interest. The first issue circulated
at IASIL 2001 at DCU, the next will appear shortly with articles on
film, on William Carleton and Sean O'Casey. Contact address

HARP), a publication of IASIL, Japan, Volume XVI, 2001 is available
(and very handsome too!) and offers poems by Nuala Ni Dhomnaill, Biddy
