IASIL 2005 Post-Conference Tour of South Bohemia 29-30 July

Friday 29 July
The tour departs from Prague in the morning towards the heart of South Bohemia – the city of Ceske Budejovice. Ceske Budejovice is a busy town with a well-preserved medieval city centre, and the home of the original and only Budweiser/Budvar beer. After a walk through the city, lunch will be had at a local restaurant featuring regional cuisine. The afternoon will take you to the ancient town of Cesky Krumlov, whose historical centre ranks 2nd on the list of UNESCO-protected cities. Here you will be provided with a guided tour of the 13th-century Cesky Krumlov castle, and in the castle park you will see a unique theatre with a rotating auditorium. After a brief walk through the city centre you will be taken to the four-star “City of Vienna Hotel” where you will be spending the night.

Saturday 30 July
After breakfast, the tour continues by visiting the small town of Trebon with its historical urban preserve and spa which uses medicinal mud to cure rheumatism. In Trebon you will also visit a Renaissance chateau and will be able to walk along the banks of “The World,” one of the largest Czech ponds. A scenic drive through the South-Bohemian landscape will bring you to the fairy-tale-like water chateau Cervena Lhota, built on a rock in the middle of a pond. Prior to a guided tour of the chateau, lunch will be served in a rustic-style local restaurant. Finally, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a quiet walk in the vicinity of the chateau. The tour is estimated to return to Prague by 7 P.M.

Price
