About IASIL Registration

Before you register for IASIL 2004, please read the following.

Payment for Registration
• Your registration will be processed when your payment is approved. You will then receive an email confirming your registration.

Payment by Cheque and Bankers Draft
• Cheques should be in euros, drawn on an Irish bank, and made payable to IASIL 2004.

• International Bankers Drafts should be in euros, drawn on an Irish bank, and made payable to IASIL 2004.

Paying by Credit Card and Laser
• Credit card payments are being processed by the conference organisers, using a system established by the Bank of Ireland. This service was selected for its efficiency and high standards of security. However, delegates should note that they use this registration system at their own risk. IASIL, the organisers of the 2004 IASIL Conference, and the National University of Ireland Galway cannot accept responsibility for any difficulties arising from your use of this system.

• If you are booking by credit card, a fee of 2.5% will be applied automatically to your registration fee. This will be added to your total when we receive your form. If you are booking by laser card, a 25c. charge will be applied. These fees go to the providers of the credit card service. IASIL, and the 2004 IASIL Conference Organisers, will not receive any part whatsoever of this booking fee.

• The 2.5% credit card booking fee and the 25 c. laser card booking fee are not refundable.

• If you enter an incorrect credit card number, or if your credit card is not authorised for some other reason, the registration process will be cancelled automatically. For this reason, we would be grateful if you would type credit card details, rather than writing them by hand.

Receipts
• Receipts will be issued to all delegates during the conference.

Verification of your Registration
• An email verification will be sent to you to confirm your registration. Please do not assume that your registration has been processed until you receive official confirmation from the IASIL 2004 Conference Organising Committee. Evidence that your payment was processed by your credit card company should not be regarded as confirmation of registration. Evidence of postage does not constitute evidence of delivery. Automated email messages confirming delivery do not constitute evidence of receipt.

Post
• We regret that we cannot take responsibility for registration forms lost or delayed in the post, or not delivered electronically by email. We recommend that valuables sent by post be registered.

Email
• You are welcome to send registration forms by email, if you wish to do so. Please bear in mind that email is never necessarily secure while in transit. We cannot accept any responsibility for the security of your email while it is in transit.

Transferral of Registration
• Registration is not transferable. Delegates may not nominate a substitute to read their paper.

Registration Period
• All registration forms must be received on or before 31 May. A total of 250 places has been made available. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will cease when all places have been filled, or on 31 May 2004 – whichever occurs first.

• Registration forms should be postmarked 31 May or earlier.

Letters of Invitation
• Letters of invitation will be issued upon request to speakers at IASIL 2004. All accepted speakers have been chosen, and no additions are being made. If your name is not on this list of speakers, you will not receive a letter of invitation.

• All delegates are responsible for making their own arrangements with regard to VISAS to enter Ireland. If in doubt please consult the Irish embassy/consulate in your area.

Student Registration
• Student registration should be accompanied by proof of student status. Such proof might include a letter from your university printed on official notepaper, or a photocopy of your student identification card, with expiry date clearly visible. These should be sent by post to: Riana O’Dwyer, IASIL 2004, English Department, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland before 31 May 2004.

Delegate’s Guests
• To facilitate delegates travelling with family-members and/or partners, a special reduced rate will be made available for their guests. Delegates may bring guests to IASIL 2004 for a reduced fee of €160. Guests may attend meals, readings, special events, and plenary lectures, but may not deliver papers. Please enter your guest’s name on the registration form.

IASIL Membership
• Anyone accepted to speak at IASIL 2004 must have his or her membership confirmed by 31 May 2004.

• Only current IASIL members will be permitted to speak at the conference. Non-members will be removed from the list of speakers after 31 May 2004. If you need to join or rejoin, please download a membership form.

• If you need to confirm your membership, please consult the IASIL Treasurer (see below)

• Administration of IASIL's membership is carried out by the Association, and not by the conference organisers. Please do not send membership applications to the conference organisers, as we cannot process them. Instead, you should sent them to Treasurer named on the membership form.

Cancellations and Refunds
• The conference organizers reserve the right to cancel delegates' registration, but will do so only under exceptional circumstances.

• Any delegate who cancels on or before 15 June 2004 will receive a 65% refund of their total conference fee (exclusive of credit and laser card booking fees, which are non-refundable).

• Refunds will be made by personal cheque, and will be issued after the conference, in August 2004.

• The IASIL 2004 Conference Organising Committee regrets that it will not be possible to provide refunds to any person who cancels on or after 16 June 2004.

Accommodation
• You may use the registration form to book accommodation in Corrib Village. Accommodation in Corrib Village will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Information about Corrib Village is available on the accommodation page.

• Single Room /private bathroom/TV: EURO-210 [Limited number - issued on a first come, first served basis]. If these rooms are booked out when your form arrives, you will be automatically allocated to a single room sharing bathroom with one other single room.

• Corrib Village is located within walking distance of the conference venue, and makes accommodation available at a price considerably cheaper than that offered elsewhere in Galway during the tourist high season. While Corrib Village is built and maintained to the highest standard, delegates will be staying in student accommodation, and not in a hotel.

• Delegates wishing to stay in a hotel should consult the list supplied on the accommodation page. You should book directly with the hotel, asking for the IASIL special rate, as soon as possible. This special IASIL hotel rate will not be available after 1 May.
