The 2006 IASIL Elections

Elections for the IASIL Executive and Representatives for the period 2006-2009 take place this year. Nominations open in May, voting takes place in June and July, and counting takes place at this year's IASIL conference in Sydney.

In order to be eligible to vote, you must have been an IASIL Member in good standing as of 31 August 2005. A draft electoral register has been online since December 2005. If you wish to check if your name is on the register, please follow the link in any recent edition of the IASIL newsletter, or email webmaster@iasil.org and the link will be re-sent to you.

4 May 2006: Release of Nomination forms

2 June 2006: Deadline for Submission of Nomination forms to Returning Officer

Week ending 9 June: Distribution of Ballot Papers to all IASIL members by post

7 July 2006: Deadline for return of Ballot Papers to Returning Officer

2006 IASIL Conference: Announcement of New Executive and Representatives

About the Elections
Twenty-four positions will be filled. These comprise the offices of Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and Returning Officer. In addition, one Vice-Chairperson and three Representatives for each of the five geographical areas (Ireland, Europe excluding Ireland, North America, Japan, Other Countries) will be elected. Election will be by postal ballot.

Nominations
IASIL members are invited to nominate candidates for the executive positions as listed above. All nominations must be signed by the nominee and by two proposers and should be accompanied by a short curriculum vitae of the candidate seeking office. Please note that both nominees and the proposers must be members in good standing (i.e. with dues paid as of August 2005); otherwise, nominations cannot be considered. A list of members in good standing is posted on the IASIL website. Please use the nomination forms to facilitate organisation. All completed nomination sheets should be returned to the Returning Officer to arrive no later than Friday 2 June 2006. The ballot papers will then be prepared and sent to all members during the week ending Friday 9 June.
